We invite Permaculture students to join us for a month period of growth and learning whilst living in vibrant community! Enjoy a holistic learning experience and environment at The Yoga Forest, as you deepen your yoga practice with daily yoga classes and learn Permaculture principles and practices in our forest gardens.
Each magical day starts with meditation & yoga practice (optional) and breakfast. After breakfast, demonstrative workshops begin putting into practice the various principles we may be learning according to where we are in the lunar cycle, the day is spent exploring various practicals in our forest gardens. Expect around 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours after lunch learning with your Permaculture guide and teacher Catherine Griggs. The late afternoons can free time for you to spend reading, journaling or reflecting in nature, or enjoying a restorative yoga class. Once a week or so, the teacher may offer various field trips, including hikes, to explore different Permaculture farms and projects in the local area, these extra curricular activities are not included in the tuition cost, but will be at the students expense, where applicable. Every effort will be made to keep any extra expenses to a minimum, and all extra activities are optional.
In Catherine's words;
"This internship is a celebration of the botanical world, and a collaborative exploration of Guatemala's indigenous wild edibles, wild medicinals, plant dyes and plant folklore. Drawing upon the knowledge of the local people and experimenting with plant uses and cultivation, students will study the landscape and go on adventurous botanical forays into the mountains and forest tuning into nature with all of our senses.
Using Permaculture principles and techniques, together we will grow in the botanical nursery, whilst cultivating a source of plant wisdom for sharing. This course is suited to those really wishing to deepen their understanding of the plant world and practice permaculture techniques. It's for aspiring gardeners and earth tenders with a desire to understand the relations of soil, plants and animals and work with them. "
