New Moon Resident Yoga Teacher Experience

Every lunar month The Yoga Forest offers a work exchange to a yoga teacher. Our ideal teacher has an open heart and a balanced mind, body, and soul. In March, Katie Cason joined the growing alum, as she led our community through classes in which she incorporated organic movement stemming from the heart center. We found Katie, the Oklahoma native, just down the path in San Marcos. When she’s not on her mat, Katie enjoys flow arts, ecstatic dance, drawing and reading. Exploring her teaching and sharing community in the forest, she shares her experience with us;

"My experience at the forest has helped re-ignite the passion in my heart for holistic community living, that focuses on mind, body, spirit, and the land.  I had the privilege of teaching two classes a day, focusing on a flow in the morning and restorative in the afternoon.  As a yoga teacher, I enjoyed the diversity of the different classes and broadened my knowledge to teach  out of my comfort zone. Filled with soothing natural sounds of the waterfall and birds, the yoga shala, looking over the lake, is a magical place to hold class and meditate. The community at the Forest was a wonderful place to share my passion with like minded individuals. Throughout my time here, I developed meaningful relationships with the interns, guests, and staff. Working in the kitchen, for lunch and occasionally dinner, I helped prepare delicious and healthy food. As a community we come to together to enjoy our meals. The forest is a sweet spot to surrender yourself fully to a holistic, healthy, and easy going life style. Waking up to a stunning sunrise,  practicing with beautiful souls, doing a little housekeeping in the community areas, and enjoying the surrounds."
